Helping residents in several municipalities of Durham Region plant trees and shrubs
Local Enhancement & Appreciation of Forests (LEAF) is a non-profit organization that offers discounted prices to plant trees and shrubs.
They provide these services to residents of Ajax, Brock, Clarington, Oshawa, Pickering, Scugog, and Whitby in Durham Region.
LEAF plants native species which are well-suited to our climatic conditions, typically require less maintenance than exotic species, and provide essential habitat for wildlife.
Approximately half the value of LEAF's tree planting services are subsidized, allowing them to provide trees and shrubs at a very attractive discounted price.
Full Service Tree Planting (for backyards only):
$160 to $230 (+ HST) per tree includes:
- 30-minute site consultation with a LEAF arborist.
- 152 centimetres (5 feet) to 244 centimetres (8 feet) tall native deciduous tree or 60 centimetres (2 feet) to 121 centimetres (4 feet) tall native evergreen tree.
- Delivery and full planting service.
- Mulch and planting/care guide.
- Ongoing advice through seasonal e-mail tips, follow-up visits and answers to tree health and care questions.
Do-It-Yourself Tree Planting (for front, side or backyards):
$110 to $180 (+ HST) per tree includes:
- Online educational videos.
- 30-minute virtual consultation with a LEAF arborist.
- 152 centimetres (5 feet) to 244 centimetres (8 feet) tall native deciduous tree or 60 centimetres (2 feet) to 121 centimetres (4 feet) tall native evergreen tree.
- Delivery only. No planting services.
- Mulch and planting/care guide.
- Ongoing advice through seasonal e-mail tips, follow-up visits, and answers to tree health and care questions.
